This is the questionnare I have created for my target audience. I have printed off 20 copies to give a large group which would give me more basis to base it round.
Features of my magazine that are 100% : Name of the band, Pictures I will need, Genre, target audience
Features that aren’t set in stone : Article content, freebies
This is my analysis for the questionnaire that I have asked 20 people in my target audience to fill out.
– It is clear that the my magazine will be aimed at 15-19 year olds as they are 85% of those who responded.
– It is also apparent that there is a relatively larger number of females interested to males.
– Half of them are willing to pay £2.10-£3 with only 20% willing to pay above £3.
– Most importantly, this will be a monthly magazine with a similar content to picture ratio with slightly more content. This will be aimed at more intellectual readers.
– To calculate which is the most important convention for my magazine, I added up the number position for each of the 7. The ones with the lowest score (music reviews, gossip and interviews) will be the focus of my magazine. Likewise, what will attract my consumers will be this and therefore, supporting this, the cover lines they have chosen are interviews and gossip.
– The choice for artist on the front cover is a close fight, however one direction have 25% of the votes. As a result, I am choosing to disregard this question as what I deduce from this is that as long as the artist is well known, the magazine will be bought. Also, since there is a huge difference between the male and female ratio, clearly there would be an interest in a boy band / male solo artist at the time. This will therefore be featured somewhere in my contents page.
